Yoichi Distillery

The Yoichi [yo-e-chi] distillery is one of Japan's oldest distilleries, situated on the southern end of Hokkaido, Japan. It was established in in 1934 by the founding father of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru, and this whisky can be regarded as the benchmark for the style. Full bodied, rich fragrant with the unique tone of Japanese Mizunara oak.

POINTS OF DIFFERENCE:

  • Yoichi is a great example of the Japanese style of whisky
  • A variety of expressions of whiskies including some older age statements (20 years old)
  • The packaging is elegant and refined and distinctively Japanese in style

The demand for Japanese whisky world-wide has increased by a staggering amount in recent years, and this trend is very much reflected here in New Zealand.
